The Adhyapana Scholarship scheme

The Adhyapana Trust started providing students with scholarships right from its inception.Over the years we have streamlined the process to include necessary documentation, verification and follow-up.The most important criteria for the scholarships is the economic condition of the student and the actual need for monetary help.Here we attempt to describe how scholarships are processed by us.

Each Adhyapana Scholar is usually referred to our trust by voluneetrs.Once we receive an application for the scholarship, we do a complete background check of the candidate.This includes a home visit by the trust members and interviews of all members of the student's family.

The academic background is the verified through a visit to the educational institution.We meet the principal and teachers to check the students' academic performance and fee requirement.The economic background of the family is verified through home visits and asset verification using relevant documents.

Based on these inputs the team decides on the amount of scholarship that can be provided to the candidate.Once the scholarship is approved, it is issued through cheque directly to the educational institution so that the scholarship is not used for any other purpose.

We also do a follow-up with the Adhyapana scholars and keep track of their academic performance throughout the year.Each Adhyapana scholar's details is maintained as a separate fils within the trust.All receipts, and certificates are regularly collected and updated in the student profiles.

We support our scholarships through donations and income from trainings.All income generated by the trust is used solely for the purpose of furthering education and youth empowerment. Our accounts are regularly audited.The trust already has gained 80G and 12A  tax exemption certificates.

Focus on Primary Education

The Adhyapana trust lent a helping hand to the initiatives in Tamilnadu Science Forum in spreading scientific awareness to the students at government schools in tamilnadu.The Science forum conducted an activity based training in the government school at Mullikulathur Village in Kanchipuram disrtict of Tamilnadu.
The Adhyapana Trust helped by partially funding the event and by participating in the training.
The Trust has been responsible in bringing this training to Mullikulathur village.It was a whole day of fun where the children were introduced to the various mysteries of science. They were thought the importance of asking the right questions.Books were distributed to encourage learning. Educational software were installed in the computers at the school. Games were conducted to stress on the importance of having fun while learning.We are hoping to participate in many such activities in the future.

Joy of giving week: Nokia donates to Adhyapana

Nokia, Bangalore donated the collections from their joy of giving week to Adhyapana.This money will be utilized for training students in English. This new initiative of Adhyapana is aimed at helping students who have done their schooling where the medium of education is not english. We will come up with a course to help these students make the transition to english medium education.
Supporting us in this initiative is Ms. Shilaja, a professional english trainer.The contributions from nokia will be utilized to fund the course for about 3 students.We thank Nokia for this noble gesture.

Adhyapana Wins the Social Enterpreneurship competition at VIT

The Adhyapana Team won this year's Social Transformers event organized by VIT university,Vellore.The event was a national level social entrepreneurship competition which attracted over 70 different entries from top colleges including IIT Bombay and COE,Pune. The Ideas of Adhyapana was unanimously chosen as the first among 16 final presentations that was short listed after 2 rounds of interviews and essays.

The judging panel consisted of a number of eminent people including

1.Mr. Charles Tsai, Global Youth Fund, Canada.
2.Mr. Vishnu Swaminathan, Change Leader- Housing For All Initiative, Ashoka Foundation.
3.Mr. Vasudev Avdhani, Advisor- NSR Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning, IIM Bangalore
4.Mr. Pankaj Jain – India legal associate –Acumen Fund,Hyderabad
